Why Their is More to Editing Than Just Using a Spellchecker
Did this headline catch YOUR attention for all the wrong reasons? Don't
make the same mistake! Read how some business people got caught out ...
An IT Manager wrote to hundreds of his external clients to
"apologise for any inconvenience
that this problem may have caused you".
Unfortunately, he accepted the spellchecker's changes and ended up sending:
"I apologise
for any incontinence that this problem may have caused you".
Another example. This time a spellchecker wasn't used ...
A shop owner placed an ad in his local paper inviting customers to visit his up-market
specialty shop to
"luxurinate in our products".
Of course, he was really inviting his customers to
"luxuriate in our products".
Imagine what your customers would say if this was YOU!
Incorrect grammar and spelling mistakes will create negative perceptions about you and
your business. And you don't want that!
So do yourself a favour. If you've got documents, or a website, or any piece of important written communication, proofread it before you make it public.
